In Italy Icea, the Institute for ethical and environmental certification, is the body that deals with natural and organic products, and is also recognized by other European countries. ICEA certifies cosmetic products "formulated on the basis of environmental sustainability criteria and controls companies that respect a cruelty free business policy".
Born in France in 1991, Ecocert is one of the most recognized entities in the world and with accepted standards in over 24 countries. It releases the standard "Ecologic and Biologic cosmetics" when the percentage of natural ingredients is at least 95%. The remaining 5 % is, however, checked, as well as the use of: minerals, organic acids, salts and other raw materials.
Ecocert does not admit the use of synthetic perfumes, silicones, synthetic preservatives, Sls, Sles and other hetoxyls, glycols, mineral oils and other petroleum products or other synthetic ingredients, as well as excludes raw materials tested on animals.
With the label "organic cosmetics", the requirements are slightly less rigid: at least 50% of the ingredients of a given product must come from organic farming.
The Biologic Products Control Consortium (CCPB) is an Italian body of certification and control of agri-food and cosmetic products that certifies organic and sustainable products.
To be defined bio a cosmetic product must contain a minimum of 95% of organic ingredients and in its production it is not possible to use derivatives of petroleum origin, paraffins, formaldehyde and dyes of synthetic origin.
VEGANOK is the standard that certifies that products are free of animal ingredients.
The VEGANOK standard has a very strict discipline with extremely strict rules and provides the sum of two types of procedure. On the one hand, the company that releases it carries out rigorous controls for each individual product that you want to certify, on the other the company that makes the VEGANOK brand assumes the criminal responsibility to self-declaration compliance with the strict VEGANOK standard.
The VEGANOK standard also covers the packaging of the product, in order to avoid that in any component, from the formula to the packaging, there is trace of elements derived from animals. The company that decides to adhere to the VEGANOK standard, also operates according to the European standard UNI EN ISO 14021, regarding the labelling and information on the products.

Lepo, in addition to complying with the standards listed above, also adds on many of its products the "Natural Ingredients".
This choice comes from the will of an immediate communication with the consumer, who is clearly informed about the content of the formulation. "Natural Ingredients" is used for products containing a percentage of natural ingredients or natural derivatives exceeding 90%* on the total formula and testifies to the company choice to use in the formulation of cosmetic products the highest percentage of natural ingredients possible (vegetals and minerals).
Natural Ingredients also indicates that these substances are not included in the formula:
They are also allowed as colorants in Lepo formulas only:
The symbol Natural Ingredients does not appear in certified bio cosmetics.
* Nail polishes >= 75%
