Lipstick is, arguably, the oldest known make-up product; in fact, it was used as early as 5,000 years ago by the civilizations of Mesopotamia while the ancient Egyptians used it to assert their social status by mixing beeswax with the colored pigments of beetles and ants.

Centuries of history have seen rudimentary formulations and more or less improbable shades follow one another but one thing is certain: lipstick, over time, has had not only a decorative value but also a more significant importance of self-assertion and expression of identity and ideologies. In the early twentieth century, for example, it was worn by feminists demonstrating for their rights, thus becoming one of the symbols of women's emancipation.

Where make-up tends to try to correct, minimize, and conceal, lipstick has instead the function of enhancing, giving character and personality; in short, a small object with a big mission!

For Lepo, lipstick has also always had an important meaning because it was with a lipstick that many years ago our adventure in the world of natural cosmetics began. It all started with the color-changing lipstick that is, without a shadow of a doubt, our company's most iconic product and the one that has most identified our brand over the years. When it was introduced to the market more than 30 years ago, it was the only one of its kind!
